Master of Quantitative Mangement

Hello! I am currently a Senior Data Analyst at Home Depot. Before I started at working in 2020, I graduated with a Master of Quantitative Management - Business Analytics degree at The Fuqua School of Business. I bring a gritty and curious persona to all challenges that face me. I am constantly looking for the next challenge and opportunity for growth. Through my independent work, as well as my career, I try look forward to implementing and improving my analytics and modeling capabilities. I have a deep interest in programming and analytics, luckliy for me these skills combine well. Thank you for taking a look around my website. If you think my capabilities and aspirations align with your mission, please reach out!

After graduating from The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, I began working at AMP Robotics.

Duke and William and Mary were great places to build my base of knowledge, but there are certain limitations and differences between classroom environments and that of the workfroce. Working has given me a new perspective and ability to understand the difficulties one may experience in their data journey. Building the base of descriptive analysis and architecture can be an arduous process. One cannot take shortcuts as you ascend the pyramid of business analytics because adjusting for shortcuts later cascades into laborious work in downstream processes. Now I understand and have helped build that base so we can begin that ascension and stand one brick taller.
Home Depot has provided another opportunity to learn and progress both professionally and personally.

I am attending The Fuqua School of Business to attain a Master of Quantitative Management - Business Analytics.

Fuqua has pushed me to learn a variety of new skills. Our program is designed around working with dedicated teams in nearly all classes, impressing upon us the critical nature of group dynamics and teamwork. I have had to figure out how to adjust and make the most of others' skills to succeed. In addition to the invaluable team experience, the courses have improved my analytical skills tremendously. I now have a deep understanding of how data analysis and modeling can be leveraged to design solutions to business problems.

I have participated in data compeitions in the past and currently competeting to show my unique view point and the value I can add.

During the MQM Winter Data Competition, I learned how to harness APIs and web scrape to acquire data. For this given competition, I performed data analysis and made visualizations about other possible iterations of one's fantasy football season. Learning while exploring an area of interest was a rewarding experience. More information about this project is available here.
I continue to do participate in data challenges and competitions, I will be submitting to the new Best Ball Data Bowl in August, 2023.

I attended William and Mary for my undergrad, this is where my interest in programming and data analysis first started to blossom.

William and Mary played a large part in shaping me into who I am today. Due to low capacity limits, I got a late start to computer programming, but it immediately piqued my interest. The satisfying feeling of finally successfully running a program you have been struggling with for a day or even weeks is unparalleled. Behaviorism and Decision Science in Psychology also drew my interest as I read Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman. Based on those interests, I thought business analytics could be a natural progression as a combination of programming and data analysis from Psychology.

Outside of my school work and data analysis, I have a deep interest in all aspects of programing. For instance, I made this website from scratch!

I am a curious person by nature; I seek the answers to my questions and yearn for more knowledge. This is part of what attracted me to Fuqua and drives me to continue learning in my spare time. I have dedicated extensive time to independent learning outside the classroom, leveraging resources such as datacamp.com, automatetheboringstuff.com and udemy.com to improve my data analysis and programming capabilities. I am self-taught in many aspects, particularly HTML, CSS and JS, all of which you can see at work on this website. I hope to continue to use these skills in my next position.

I strive to improve the world around me, and hope to bring this mindset to my next position.

Working to better the community and the world around me has always been important to me. During high school, I attended Firefighter I Training during the summer to become a certified firefighter as I volunteered at my local firehouse. At William and Mary, I was involved in a handful of volunteer organizations throughout my years. I spent the largest portion of my volunteering time at William and Mary working with BeTheMatch leading our local chapter. We were a fundraising performer and, more importantly, signed up numerous people who have donated. Beyond wanting to have an impact at my job, it is important to me that I have an impact on the community and those around me.

Skills

I have experience in several computer languages. While I am most comfortable with data analysis and programming in Python, I also have significant experience (particularly modeling experience) with R. When it comes to web development, I am quite familiar with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. During undergrad, I used Python to create data structures including stacks, queues, linked lists and balancing binary search trees. Another complicated project I took on at William and Mary involved created a raycaster in C to display spheres in a 3D space with shading based on a light source's location. In addition to my course work, I continue to broaden and deepen my knowledge in these languages during my spare time.
During my time at the Fuqua School of Business, I have greatly broadened my repertoire of modeling and analysis techniques. I can implement and have a thorough knowledge of linear regression, logistic regression, decision trees, support vector models, clustering (supervised and unsupervised) and random forests among other modeling techniques. Recently, I have picked up more knowledge in Keras deep learning modeling and how to implement it for time series analysis. In addition to this, I have performed ARIMA, ARIMAX, SARIMAX and VAR analysis on time series data. I have a particular interest in monte carlo simulations and thoroughly enjoyed learning about them in my Decision Analytics and Modeling course. I have a wide base of models I worked with and on and look forward to learning more as my career progresses.
Beyond my hard skills, I have extensive volunteering experience and leadership experience. During high school, I attended Fire Fighter I training in New Jersey to become Burn Certified and be better able to serve my community as a volunteer firefighter. In college, I continued to serve my community by leading my local chapter of BeTheMatch, signing people up for the national bone marrow registry. Making a larger impact on the community around me and helping others are important to me because everyone deserves a helping hand. I was also a volunteer tour guide at William and Mary where I was able to represent the university and impact those thinking about joining our community. Leading tours of parents and prospective students through campus helped me improve my public and extemporaneous speaking skills.
